WHO'S UP? -> WHAT ARE THEY SINGING? -> SING IT OR TAKE THE DARE
1. What JBP Suicide Karaoke Does
JBP Suicide Karaoke is the game controller - it does not require a particular karaoke music service. The game randomly selects WHO sings and WHAT song they receive, while the Host uses the karaoke source of their choice to play the actual track.
Use it with your preferred karaoke platform, your own karaoke song files, or karaoke videos available on YouTube. When searching YouTube, a useful search pattern is: SONG TITLE + ARTIST + KARAOKE. For example: "Before I Let Go Beyonce karaoke." Adding the word "karaoke" helps narrow the results toward karaoke versions. Availability and quality of individual tracks will vary.
2. Before the Party
Sign in to Host Control with the Host account assigned to the event and create or open the correct Suicide Karaoke session.
Confirm the Session ID before inviting guests. JBP keeps participants, songs and game activity tied to the selected session.
Open the Game Screen on the computer/TV that the room will see. Keep Host Control available to the Host.
Confirm that the Participant QR and Song / Dare QR point to the current session before guests begin scanning.
3. Build the Participant Pool
Guests scan the Participant QR and add their name to the current session. The Host can monitor and manage participants from Host Control.
Participants should be added before or during the event as needed. Use the session-specific link/QR so names go into the correct event.
4. Build the Song Bag
Guests can scan the Song / Dare QR to submit a Song Title, Artist and optional Dare to the current session.
The Host can also prepare the song library in advance. Current JBP Host Control supports CSV song export and CSV import, including adding to the existing song list or replacing the session's song list.
JBP does not have to contain the karaoke audio/video itself. When a song is drawn, play that song using your karaoke platform, a locally available karaoke song file, or a suitable karaoke version on YouTube.
5. How to Find a Karaoke Track
On your normal karaoke platform, search for the drawn Song Title and Artist.
For YouTube, search: SONG TITLE + ARTIST + KARAOKE. If needed, add "lyrics" or "instrumental" to narrow the version further.
Preview the result briefly when practical so the Host selects the intended song/version. JBP controls the game draw; the external karaoke source provides the music and lyrics.
6. Run a Round
STEP 1 - DRAW PARTICIPANT: Use DRAW PARTICIPANT to randomly select who is up next.
STEP 2 - DRAW THEIR SONG: After the participant is selected, draw the song. The Game Screen presents the singer/song matchup.
Find and start the karaoke track on the Host's chosen karaoke source. The selected participant performs the song.
The game's standing rule is SING IT... OR TAKE 3 SHOTS. If the participant does not drink, use the game's I DON'T DRINK - SHOW MY DARE option and reveal the assigned Dare instead.
When the round is complete, choose NEXT ROUND / START FRESH ROUND and repeat.
7. Host Recovery Controls
UNDO LAST PARTICIPANT returns the most recently drawn participant when a draw needs to be corrected.
UNDO LAST SONG returns the most recently drawn song when needed.
RESET PARTICIPANTS resets participant draw usage for the session. RESET SONGS resets song draw usage. Use reset controls deliberately because they affect the available draw pools.
START FRESH ROUND clears the current matchup display for the next draw without requiring a new event session.
8. Session & Data Controls
Each event has its own Session ID and PHP-backed session data. Keep the correct Session ID with the correct event.
Host Control provides session-specific Game, Participant and Song / Dare links. Song libraries can be exported to CSV as a portable copy and imported back when appropriate.
Administrative session controls and Host-account access are separate from normal live-game controls. Avoid deleting a session merely to end a round.
9. Host Best Practices
Open the karaoke playback source before the game starts so switching from the JBP draw to the song is quick.
Keep JBP Host Control private to the Host and put the Game Screen where guests can see it.
Test the microphone, speakers, display and internet connection before guests arrive.
Encourage guests to add songs early so the Song Bag has variety. The Host can supplement the library before the event using CSV import.
Keep the pace moving: draw the participant, draw the song, locate/play the karaoke version, perform, then move to the next round.
10. Important Note About Karaoke Sources
JBP Suicide Karaoke is source-flexible: the game can be used alongside virtually any karaoke playback platform or karaoke song-file library because JBP manages the random game selection rather than the audio catalog itself.
YouTube can also be used when an appropriate karaoke upload is available. Search using the song title and artist plus the word "karaoke." YouTube availability, licensing, region restrictions and individual video quality are controlled by YouTube/uploaders, not by JBP Suicide Karaoke.
